FAQ
This section answers some of the frequently asked questions we receive.

When’s the Best Time to be Photographed?

Question: Can I wait until fall for my senior photos? I want to have a good tan.
Answer: You don’t have to wait to have a tan, because we’re digital we can adjust your image to give you the tan you want. Remember tan lines and sunburn are additional to retouch.

Question: Can I wait until I get my braces off?
Answer: No need to wait, we can remove your braces digitally.

Question: When should I call to make my appointment?
Answer: Call right now! Why? because you will have more time to have a relaxed senior session. Senior sessions will be limited after school starts, weekend and evening times will be filled up if you wait, plus the session fees charged may increase. Don’t miss out on the summer deals and discounts.

What about Friends and Pets?

Question: Can I bring a friend to be photographed with me?
Answer: YES, but remember the images we take of you together count toward your session, (no additional fee charged).

Question : Can I bring a pet to be photographed with me?
Answer: YES, but remember to keep then on a leash until the session, bring water and food for them also. Please don’t keep them in your car until the shoot.

What about Different Locations?

Question: Can we go on location, like to a special place to be photographed, with my car, pet or etc.?
Answer: YES, depending on the location and distance a location fee may apply to your session.

Question: I want fall colors and leaves, can I wait until then?
Answer: YES, but!!!! fall leaves are a hit and miss situation. One heavy rain or wind and they are gone. Some years we don’t have the fall colors, just brown leaves. We suggest you have your indoor photos taken and then wait for the outside fall images just in case.

Myth #1

”Are all photography studios equal? I received a postcard from studio M with cool photos on it This photographer must be good, right?”
FACT: BEWARE FAKE PHOTOS!!! There are many photographers, yes even in our area, that use preprinted postcards. Those postcards and mailing pieces have other photographers stock photos on them and they just have the back printed with their logos and messages. At Lou Bartels Photography all images used on our mailing pieces are taken by Lou. When you receive “fake” mailing pieces investigate the photographer, ask to see their work, tour their studio to see the props and locations used, remember this is your senior year don’t have “fake photos” taken.

Myth #2

“Are cheap photographers as good as the more pricey one?”
FACT: There are many ways to make prices look cheaper, but when you compare apples, you get what you paid for. Using a PPA Certified Master Photographer demonstrates that the photographer you are using for your senior photos has spent thousands of hours to educate his self and earned these degrees. You want to use this photographer because they are a full tine professional “not a part time photographer” and the quality of the finished products you receive offer a lifetime guarantee. We photograph many seniors that were taken in by the so called $50 deals only to be disappointed with quality, poses and end product (printed at discount store).

Myth #3

“My school said I have to use the school contract photographer for my senior photos”.

FACT: This is your senior year and you can have any senior photographer take the photos that you plan to give to your family and friends. You may be required to have your photo taken at school for the yearbook only, if this is the case, keep your school happy, but just say no to the contract photographer when they try to sell you photos you don’t want. Remember it’s your senior year and your senior photos.
